Most of us pay little attention to proportion and purchase furniture that fits into our bedrooms, not realizing that proportion also plays a very important role. Nevertheless, there are several ways in which small bedrooms can be made to look more spacious and bigger. With proper lighting, wardrobes, bed, mirrors, etc. the small bedroom can be decorated in a way that makes it look very appealing and elegant.
Shades of contemporary interiors are more impartial and brilliant as the palette is punched up with striking and splendid shades of contemporary style. Neutrals, highly contrasting characterizes the shades of this time with style. Dark is essentially utilized for ground and neutrals are utilized for dividers while scenery is highlighted with intense embellishments. Tints of brilliant hues like red, orange, green, white, gold and cream is in a perfect world followed in contemporary interiors.
The Bedroom has always been a place where people can shed their outer clothes and be what they are. A bedroom of any house can be seen as the place where the residents can have their "me" time. It caters to the most personal characteristics of the person and can spend some quality time. Bedroom is not a place to sleep, but one of the most prominent areas of the house after the living room.
This is probably the most common thing everyone thinks of when they think 'bedroom storage'. But what goes wrong with this idea is what we use the under-the-bed drawers for. The best thing to go under the bed would be extra linen, blankets, pillows, bed sheets and pillow covers, curtain sets, drapes, rugs, carpets and things like that. These are not things you need on a daily basis, so it wouldn't be a problem if they went into a less accessible place in the bedroom. When you are going to have guests come over to stay at your place, you can easily just pull the drawer out and arrange for their bedding. Similarly you do not change the curtains or drapes in your room everyday, so this can go under the bed too. However, if you change them regularly - like weekly, or every fortnight - then you can group your curtain and drapes sets into two and keep one of the group in a cupboard. This group can be exchanged for the one under the bed once a month. Simple enough, isn't it?
Cost: The sky is the limit when it comes to bedroom furniture sets, especially if you start looking at designer furniture, expensive wood materials, leathers, and etc. For those with budgets, a basic set including a frame, headboard, and 1-2 nightstands can be purchased for around $500. A bedroom set can also save you time and money because you will spend less when buying a set and you won't have to shop around for individual pieces to match and complete your room.
A bay window is probably the only thing that is missing in my own room! (Sob sob.) But I helped many of my friends design their bay window, and they were quite happy with the suggestions I gave. There are many bay window seat plans that you can choose from depending on the styling of the rest of your bedroom. But one common tip I can give is to have a storage built in the bay window seat. You can either have a drawer under your bay window seat that you can pull out, or you can have a lift-up seat. A number of things can go into this. My best friend uses it to store her extra (and extra expensive!) footwear. It stays clean and moisture free. If you are not much of a footwear person, how about storing the other set of curtains I talked about in the previous paragraph? You can even keep old books in it. Finally, the things that go to decorate your bay window itself - like lace curtains, cushions, etc., can go under the bay window seat.
